SECURE 2.0 - New and Enhanced Tools for Retirement
Please note that February's event will be held at the office of Fennemore Law.
Ryan Curtis and Kristi L. Hill of Fennemore will be presenting on the recently enacted SECURE 2.0.
The SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022 is designed to substantially improve retirement savings options. The Act contains 92 new provisions to promote savings, boost incentives for businesses, and offer more flexibility to those saving for retirement.
SECURE 2.0, signed into law on December 29, 2022 as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) of 2023, is intended to at increase access to retirement plans and retirement savings, streamline administration and reporting requirements, and preserve retirement income. The act builds on the SECURE Act of 2019 and marks Congress’ most recent step toward making retirement savings and security more accessible for U.S. households.
Ryan Curtis is chair of Fennemore's ERISA (Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) and employee benefits practice group where he guides clients through the critical intricacies of volatile matters such as IRS audits and U.S. Department of Labor investigations.
As employee benefits attorneys, Ryan and his team focus on counseling employers with the administration of their benefit plans, as well as helping trustees and administrators comply with important federal laws, including ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, and HIPAA.
Kristi Hill focuses her practice on the areas of ERISA and employee benefits, employment and labor law, and business and finance. She reviews and consults on a variety of qualified plan issues, including drafting, revising, and terminating 401(k) plans, profit sharing plans, ESOPs and pension plans. Kristi also assists plan sponsors in evaluating and cost-effectively resolving a wide range of plan failures, including drafting complicated correction applications under the IRS Voluntary Correction Program when necessary.
