Plan Compliance Checkup: A Working Framework for Spotting Trouble Before It Finds You
Speaker: Kristi Hill of ERISA Benefits Law
Every plan has blind spots — a controlled group nobody re-checked after the last acquisition, a document restatement that quietly lapsed, a census data error that's continued through several plan years of testing. The goal is catching these before a correction becomes unavoidable, or at least catching them while the correction is still relatively simple. We will walk through a practical "report card" for evaluating plan compliance health across five critical compliance areas: plan documents, plan operations, reporting obligations, fiduciary duties, and data integrity issues. As part of that framework, we'll look at where AI tools are showing up for plan administrators and service providers today (for better or worse), and what that means for plan compliance.
